How do I apply gel without flaking?

Q: I apply gel to make my natural hair smooth when styling. Every time I use gel I get white clumps and flaking. How do I fix it? A: Unless you use flaxseed gel or some other natural organic gel, I personally do not advocate for making gel a permanent player in your type 4 hair regimen. Why? Most gels contain alcohol which actually dries your hair and scalp. It may look cute but in the long run, it may not be best for the health of your hair.
